Enduro Off Road useful facts
Today's Bicycle Off-road Riders Are Asking: Why Buy Giant Mountain Bikes?
There was a time when a "real" bicycle meant a 10-speed, with those signature curvy handlebars and thin, athletic-looking wheels. These excellent vehicles are still around in abundance, but are limited by certain types of rough terrain. Most cannot ride off pavement without running into some serious tire issues. The Giant company was founded in part to fill the need for excellent bicycles, including off-road models. But why buy Giant mountain bikes?
One good reason is experience. The corporation began small in 1972, as a supplementary manufacturer to provide backup for larger companies such as Nishiki and Schwinn. Soon the company was recognized on its own merits, and by the mid 1980s had established an excellent reputation. Today it is seen as a major force in the world bicycle market, and is known for high quality and good design.
Their all-terrain bicycles were a quantum improvement in recreational designs. Created for the off-road rider in mind, they must withstand an enormous amount of abuse and physical stress, far more than those ridden only on pavement. They have to be able to jump logs, hit rocks, and bounce along on uneven and damaging surfaces all day long.
Front wheel suspension systems are normal, and many have both front and rear systems. The handlebars are usually straighter and heavier than those found on lightweight machines, and the wheel sizes are calibrated differently. What these differences mean is that an entirely new type of biking is now available to the outdoor riding enthusiast, one that allows easy pedaling in environments that were previously off-limits.
The sport gradually attracted a larger group of participants, and today's enthusiasts have quite a few different kinds of biking and styles of bike to choose from. There have been racing models that share some of their bicycle DNA with cross-country designs, and vice versa. The need to shed excess bicycle weight led to a pioneering effort in the development of aluminum frames, which graduated into the use of advanced carbon fiber composites.
Trail bikes are a good example of a multipurpose design that is comfortable in the woods or on a road, and can withstand either riding environment without problems. They are the first cousins of vehicles called enduro or all-mountain bicycles, both of which have been created to ride rough terrain for extended periods of times. On the other hand, downhill racers, while incorporating many off-road bike features, must be both strong and light.
Street or urban hybrids are probably the most common bicycles being ridden today. The Giant brand combines the durability and innate strength of an off-road model in a bike that is ideal for the city. For those who do a lot of on-street riding, these hybrids are heavier than a traditional 10-speed, but can take more punishment and have the safety advantage of wider wheels and tires for gripping wet surfaces, and a stronger frame that resists failure.
There are also models perfect for single-speed uses or 4X challenges. So, why buy Giant mountain bikes? Because this manufacturer has the design experience and solid reputation that inspires consumer confidence. They have won multiple awards both for design and in racing. While most buyers will never race, a sturdy and well-made Giant bicycle can take them almost anywhere in comfort and style.

Enduro Off Road Questions
What would be the best enduro/dual sport bike for a 5'7" girl (first time off road)?
I've been riding sport touring bikes for a few years now. I LOVE IT, but I would like to give off road a try. I know nothing of the sport other then I believe I need an enduro or a dual sport bike. I prefer the ability to ride to the trails, being that I don't want to buy or be bothered with a trailer right now. I'm not a small girl, I know I will need a bike that can deal with my weight yet be limber enough to have some fun on. (under 200lbs over 150lbs) I really don't want my exact weight on here....
So does anyone have any suggestions of first time bikes? I know I can handle some power, I'm not afraid of the power, and I don't want to be struggling to keep up with friends on trails or on the highway getting to the trails... ( I can deal having to do some mods on the bike, but not thousands of dollars worth just to make it street legal)
So any advise you have would be great !
DRZ 400 that is already street legal from the factory would be a good one to look at. or if you want to really crank it up a notch go look at the KTM 450's or the 630 at the most its a big bike but still pretty light for its size. i would avoid the KLR650. its just a big heavy pile of scrap that has tires. its great for the road. but if you plan on doing any real off road time on it you will be hating life.
What type of motorcycle should i buy?
I was thinking of getting an enduro.. but then i really dont know... i want a bike thats comfy for traveling but can go off road too
If you want an on/off-road bike, ill agree the enduro is your best bet! If you are an experienced rider ill go for the R1200GS and if you're less experienced ill start with a smaller cc. If you will be driving or adventuring off road most of the time go for the R1200GS Adventurer. I am riding a BMW myself and never had any problems and don't plan on any! My bike is a 2002 model and its the best bike I've ever had. My next bike is the R1200GS Adventurer.... I believe you wont regret buying a BMW!
